Capacity building program for police officials

IJM partnered with the Telangana State Police Academy and the Udaipur Police on combating human trafficking through capacity building programs. The training, attended by 60 police officials aimed to sensitize and create awareness among law enforcers on laws and procedures related to human trafficking. The objective of the program was to help the law enforcement agencies in understanding psychosocial effects of human trafficking, and to deal with the victims of trafficking with empathy.

Smt. J. Parimala Nutan (IPS) Telangana, said, “The training was driven towards helping the police officials understand the standard operating procedures of investigation and systems of justice delivery.”

The sessions focused on human trafficking: concepts, dimensions, responses, challenges and innovations targeting other forms of trafficking like bonded labour trafficking and sex trafficking

The programs ended with discussing procedures and unique circumstances that might rise while managing human trafficking cases and the importance of making use of additional resources from CSOs at different stages of investigation, rescue, and post rescue.
